LaPlante’s transition from leaf on the wind to vamp on the prowl began pretty much instantaneously. Writing and recording the demo for darkside party banger “Hope You’re Alone” in a single night gave the artist enough momentum that nothing could stand in her way--for long.

As with her command of melody, the aptitude for depicting emotional nuance LaPlante showcases on “Can’t Stop” is gaining massive depth and resonance remarkably fast--especially when it comes to ambiguity. Even when she plays the budding libertine, as she does with flick-of-the-wrist ease on “Do That To Me,” she’s careful to let a little longing for something more seep through the cracks in her wall of benign indifference. Noir’s overarching affective backbone resides solely in LaPlante’s will to rock.

“For the first time my songs sound like me to me,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to make a heavy, hard-hitting record. I listen to Noir now and know exactly how I felt.”

Catbath
Catbath, a four-piece rock outfit hailing from Minneapolis, MN, began in the basement of Travis Franklin and Crystal Stockert’s south side duplex in 2013. The duo began mining the arsenal of songs Franklin had been stockpiling. They were eclectic, drawing from disparate genres and eras of rock—from sixties garage pop to grunge to metal. But no matter how much distortion or dropped-D riffage was heaped atop the tunes, the common thread binding them together could not be obscured; the songs were chock-full of undeniable melodies and irrepressible pop hooks.

Stockert and Franklin soon enlisted bassist Kristin Kosieracki to round out the group and realize the lush vocal harmonies Stockert envisioned for the band. They wasted no time recording their first full length, "It's Bathtime," released in June 2013.

In Feb. 2016, second guitarist Matthew Leonard Graves was added to fill out the sound and help us post stuff on Facebook.

Catbath’s purring harmonies, roaring screams and hissing fuzz and feedback, are as fresh and bracing to the ears as a rough cat’s tongue to the cheek. They will shred you like the furniture!
